![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When will Batman #1 (Detective 27 etc.) be back in print? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() quote: Also, will the second printing include a table of contents and a bio page? I know some of the older Archives that didn't have these features in their first printing aquired them in a later printing. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Hi Bob (as I down a shot of whiskey fulfilling a college game rule back from the 80's; if you have to ask, then you may be shaving in a few years....), Keeping in the archive mode but a little off the wall.... Have you ever heard thru any grapevine (Time-Warner, AOL, DC, etc.) if the 1960's Batman TV show would ever be put on DVD as a boxed set? I don't know about anyone else, but I would buy it in a heartbeat. As campy as the shows are, I still get a smile on my face watching them on TVLand every now and then. By the way, this is one of the first posts I look for when I sign on. Very informative and "just a swell bunch of guys". Also (showing off his porno... oops photographic memory, wasn't one of your first jobs loading lamps into trucks? The Old Guy ("AND THAT'S THE WAY WE LIKED IT!!!!") IP: Logged |

quote: I strongly second this. Now that TV Land only runs the show at 3:00 a.m., I miss my dose of camp. I would kill for a complete set on DVD. And to keep this on-topic : How about some 50's Batman? The next time you guys want to start a new Batman line, please consider a jump ahead to the 50's! I've read that the mysterious Powers That Be consider this era a tough sell, but these same PTB killed off the JSA because "no one wants to read about a bunch of old guys." Phooey! Bring on the aliens, the weird costumes, the goofy one-shot sidekicks, Bat-Hound, Bat-Woman, Bat-Girl, and Bat-Mite! I know there's a lot of other stuff in line first, including three current Bat-lines, but maybe in 2005 or 6? Pleeeeeeez? Thanks. And thank you for reading this thread and replying so often. It is really appreciated. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bob, was the recent jump into the war genre successful? Is DC planning any more war Archives? Any Firestorm Trades on the horizon? Thanks! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Bob, With the upcoming FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE JUSTICE LEAGUE project coming out later this year, any chance of getting A NEW BEGINNING and/or THE SECRET GOSPEL OF MAXWELL LORD back into print? The latter I had a copy of, but it disappeared on me and I would love to be able to get another one. Similarly, has there been any discussions of possibly doing another collection of the old JLI material? Thanks for your time! Teisto IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oddball request: Any possiblity that the two Epicurus the Sage books might be reprinted/collected?? I still start chortling every time I think of the diminutive Alexander the Great's floppy hair and sudden discovery that binge drinking was not actually pleasurable. . . . I could have saved my self a lot of trouble in college if only I had read it sooner!! IP: Logged |
Krysmo Member |
![]() ![]() ![]() Bgt...word is that the EPICURUS gns are going to be collected, along with the short story from "Fast Forward" (a Piranha anthology miniseries) and a NEW story by Messner-Loebs and Keith, later this year. Good move for DC - this will be under a daughter imprint - as M-L has been going through some hardships and could use the $ as I understand. Great stories, too, should have gotten much more diverse distribution than it did...same as Tintin and Asterix...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What are the chances of seeing a new Watchmen hardcover? No limited edition or slipcase or anything, just a regular hardcover? I've not yet read Watchmen, and I'd rather buy it in HC. Also, I noticed a new version of the TPB with a bright yellow cover. Why the change from the old broken glass cover? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Bob, I was pondering today how cool it would be to have a TPB collection of the three Superman/Flash races. Any chance of DC producing one? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I think the word on Batman is patience. We are up to what? 1948 in Batman Archives #5. Another one or two and we start getting 1950's elements like the Riddler, Mr. Zero, and all many of zany campy stuff. Also, the Batman in World's Finest will move at a faster rate because it was published less frequently than others. I myself, while realizing that the Dark Knight is due, would prefer the next GA Batman Archives is #6 in that series. My GA Batman itch was scratched with the B:WF #1 Archive. D. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Yes. 6 covers. 4 stories. I agree that it doesn't make sense to skip to the 50s now. By my calculations, Batman Archives 8 will be mostly from the 50s. Plus, World's Finest is already in the 50s and Batman in WF will get there quickly since there are only three more volumes. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() While Watchmen is a topic of discussion, I'd like to put in a request for completely remastered colors in any potential deluxe hardcover (I'm assuming that attempts are being made to convince Alan to allow one for the 20th Anniversary). I was just rereading it today, and the colors still annoy me. They're just so outdated, and they spill out of their frames, and just aren't of the caliber of the art or the writing. I would love to see what Trish Mulvihill could do on a remastering effort. Just a thought. ------------------ IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: I signed in today just to ask that same question. But I believe the 1st TPB has already been resolicited a few months ago. However I can't find the second one anywhere and would love to see it reprinted. By the way, will there be anymore trades of Just Imagine Stan Lee...etc.? I heard the sales on this series tanked pretty badly. Thanks, Bob! P.S. How about some Firestorm trades??? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: If the old 1960s campy Batman series ever got released as home video & DVD boxed sets, it would not have anything to do with AOL/Time Warner. The Batman series was produced by 20th Century Fox, and not Warner Bros. Warner Bros. may own DC Comics, but they do not own the rights to the old Batman series; Fox does. Fox also owns the rights to the 1960s Batman: The Movie spin-off, and that film's VHS & DVD rights as well. Fox recently re-issued the film onto DVD for the first time, with an audio commentary by Adam West & Burt Ward. Warner Bros. has been involved with Batman's recent film/TV projects: the four live-action films from 1989-1997, the two animated series (Batman and Batman Beyond), and those two series' various animated direct-to-video movie spin-offs (1993's animated film "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" was released in theaters).
quote: Both A NEW BEGINNING and THE SECRET GOSPEL OF MAXWELL LORD have been out-of-print for a while, although A NEW BEGINNING was still available in the DC Comics backlist in Diamond's Star System catalog of books to order until the last 2 or 3 years it finally sold out. THE SECRET GOSPEL OF MAXWELL LORD has been unavailable for many years, vanishing away after its initial print run. Compared to A NEW BEGINNING being available for practically a decade until recent years, that's a surprise to say the least. It would be interesting if DC does consider bringing these two JLI books back again, as well as maybe publishing more volumes of JLI's early years as well. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I cant see how a stan lee just imagine tpb could be justified while a bat (non crossover) tpb cant. The longer marvel continues collecting, (and keeping in print) all spiderman stories, the more ridiculous the notion batman tpbs cant sell will look. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This question probably falls into either the "already answered" or "not allowed to answer" category, but I will ask anyway: Have any of the archives published to date failed to break even? IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() Bob, let me add my vote to including GK#32 in a third Fugitive trade. Although not technically part of that arc I thought its not only one of the better stand-alone Bat stories but also shows the outcome of Murderer/Fugitive and the re-incorporation of Bruce Wayne into the Batman persona. Speaking of Bat related stuff, I've loved the Batgirl trades. Does Kelley Puckett's departure from the book preclude another TPB or is that not in the cards? IP: Logged |
